Tom Cruise & Aliens

The Media, in it's controversial nature, harps on the idea that scientologists consider themselves aliens from outer space.

The Media, in this instance is not a source of factual information but distorts a commonly held belief which many eastern religions to this day hold sacred. That man is not a body but is a spiritual being and immortal.

This distortion has become so twisted and perverted by some of the mainstream media, that the real truth is non existent in the media and has been replaced by generalised statements with no substance whatsoever. Scientologists are now painted as being odd balls and freaks to the degree, one might almost suspect, that it was being done with malice a forethought.

Be that as it may, the statement that we are all aliens from outer space is not a statement to be found in the field of dianetics and scientology. It is simply a statement that has been used to make fun of Scientology and evidently intended to alienate many from finding out the truth.

But there is a tiny kernal of truth here.

A central concept in Hubbard's philosophy is that we are not bodies but are all immortal spiritual beings. And being immortal beings, individuals are not confined to one planet but may have in the past and, who knows may in the future, occupy other planets around the universe. This is a believe common not only to scientology. Indeed it is more common that you might think.

In fact a Gallup Poll a few years ago, demonstrated that a good one third of the population in the United States believed earth is being visited by extra-terrestrials. In the east reincarnation, in which an individual returns to another body when the prior one is finished, has been a common believe for thousands of years. Buddhism, for example, which has been around far longer than any western johnny come lately newspaper or tv station, has held a similar belief for thousands of years.

It forms the central theme for Tibetan Buddhism. In fact the Dalai Lama is considered the 14th incarnation of the one and only Dalai Lama. Something the media choses not to comment on it seems. No where do I read that the Dalai Lama is an alien or even considered a little strange for having ruled his country for hundreds of years in various bodies. In fact he is (quite rightly) treated with the utmost respect by the media. It is only recently, in the 'western world', that the belief we are only 'one lifers' has been promoted.

The media do not knock Buddhism for having similar beliefs, or Hinduism, and even respects the Islamic faith which has some interesting concepts as well. This indicates it is not the beliefs that are being disparaged by the media but the church itself. And here one has to ask oneself why?

For the answer to that go to Church of Scientology.

So on the belief that we are immortal and our origins as individuals goes back a long way, then the idea of us being aliens is rather like saying johnny in school is an alien because he sits at the other end of the same classroom.

Which brings us to Tom Cruise.

Let's get this in perspective. Tom Cruise is an actor, That is his profession. He acts. There are many actors in Hollywood. Some of them are scientologists. Some are Buddhists (Richard Gere comes to mind). Other have other religions, Christianity, Jewish (very prominent in the entertainment field), even Opus Dei. None of these have the media frenzy over them.

Many are scientologists but, interestingly, are not given as much attention in the media as Tom Cruise. Why?

In this case it is simply that Tom Cruise is a star and has heaps of fans. He is also very vocal and feeds the media. He makes good copy. Whereas most scientology actors simply go about their business of acting, Tom Cruise appears to 'act up' to the media for reasons of his own. But this places him in the news and coupled with the fact that he is a scientologist makes good copy for the media in the believe that it will 'sell'. Distortions and all.

Now the other name that comes up in the media is xenu. Yes this is a name and the name of an individual that sometimes comes up at a particular level of study. Stories surrounding this name are grossly distorted in the media and on the internet and the name really has no relevance to anyone until they begin study of that particular area.

I am not going to go into any detail here as it would serve no useful purpose to add to, what is already a confusing issue, and will leave that for those that travel up the bridge of knowledge outlined by Lafayette Ron Hubbard so they can find out the true nature of xenu for themselves at the appropriate time.

It has also been said that people will get sick looking at what are called upper level materials. It is unlikely anyone will get sick looking at them, but it is certainly possible if one delves in, without the appropriate knowledge or training, and mis-applies the information which one becomes aware of when one starts on those levels. In other words, it is ok to open the bonnet (or hood in the US) of a large truck and look in wonder at the engine turning over, but only a qualified motor mechanic or an idiot would stick his fingers in there.
